“Iranian women return from visiting a former war front on the border with Iraq.
Every year hundreds of thousands of Iranians visit the fronts of the Iran-Iraq war during the Nowruz (New Year) holiday. This special tour is called the ‘Caravan of Light’. The pilgrims travel with special buses from all over the country to visit the places where their relatives died. Iran lost over half a million soldiers during the eight year (1980-1988) trench war with Iraq.”
